What is Salvation?

The knowledge of God is an important and vital part in salvation, but just the knowledge alone is not enough, neither is the understanding that there is a Heaven/Hell. Some people try and earn their way with good deeds or going to Church, still in the end it is not enough. Lets take a crack at some more questions:

Do all good people go to heaven?
Does going to Church make you a Christian(saved)?
Do good deeds outway or scratch out the bad ones?
Are good people better than the bad people?
